Hello, my name is Sara Rader, and I am the President of the Texas Junior Polled Hereford Association. Welcome to our web-site! I am a senior at Mt. Vernon High School in Mt. Vernon, Texas and I love Polled Hereford cattle. Polled Herefords are a great breed to show and work with because they are very gentle.

The Texas Junior Polled Hereford Association is more that just showing cattle. It’s a great place to make life-long friends, compete in speech contests, team marketing, team fitting, livestock judging, quiz bowl, poster and photo contests. For the younger members, there is a creative arts contest where your best works of art created at the show will be judged and great prizes are awarded. There is also a fitting workshop and shadow showmanship where you can learn to show your cattle to the best of your ability. There are many more activities during the state show in June each year!

Our junior state show this year will be in Bryan/College Station June 17-20, 2009.
Bring your owned, bred & owned heifers, steers, cow/calf pairs, and your bred and owned bulls to the show.

UPDATES

**In order to streamline the showmanship contest, the NJHA Board of Directors voted at their fall business meeting to implement a $5 entry fee for showmanship. In addition to the entry fee, all showmanship contestants must pre-enter for the contest by May 20th.***
